Homer Richards
Homer Richards is an east coast-based veterans disability benefits attorney. He earned his J.D. in 2016 from the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America (Washington, DC), and he received a B.A. in Political Science in 2013 from Miami University (Oxford, OH).
Before joining Unruh Law, Homer served as a national staff attorney at Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) beginning in 2016 and then became the senior managing attorney of VVA’s office in downtown Washington, DC in 2017. At VVA, Homer represented veterans in pursuit of their benefits before the VA regional offices and Board of Veterans’ Appeals. He also provided legal counsel to veterans’ service officers nationwide, and he represented VVA’s interests in public policy meetings with VA management with other veterans’ service organizations (VSOs).
From 2019 through 2024, Homer represented veterans against VA before the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (CAVC) with Bergmann & Moore, LLC, including as the acting senior attorney for his litigation team in 2021 and 2022. While practicing before CAVC, Homer never had a negative decision issued against any of his hundreds of clients.
Homer is an accredited attorney before VA and is admitted to practice before CAVC; and he is a member of the National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates (NOVA) and the CAVC Bar Association. He is licensed to practice law in Maryland and DC, and he is pursuing licensure in the state of Ohio.
